Smart Information Systems Book Description:

This text presents an overview of smart information systems for both the private and public sector, highlighting the research questions that can be studied by applying computational intelligence. The book demonstrates how to transform raw data into effective smart information services, covering the challenges and potential of this approach. Each chapter describes the algorithms, tools, measures and evaluations used to answer important questions. This is then further illustrated by a diverse selection of case studies reflecting genuine problems faced by SMEs, multinational manufacturers, service companies, and the public sector. Features: provides a state-of-the-art introduction to the field, integrating contributions from both academia and industry; reviews novel information aggregation services; discusses personalization and recommendation systems; examines sensor-based knowledge acquisition services, describing how the analysis of sensor data can be used to provide a clear picture of our world.

Information Systems Book Description:

This book constitutes selected papers from the 15th European, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern Conference, EMCIS 2018, held in Limassol, Cyprus, in October 2018. EMCIS is dedicated to the definition and establishment of Information Systems as a discipline of high impact for the methodical community and IS professionals, focusing on approaches that facilitate the identification of innovative research of significant relevance to the IS discipline. The 34 full and 8 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 108 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: blockchain technology and applications; big data and analytics; cloud computing; digital services and social media; e-government; healthcare information systems; IT governance; and management and organizational issues in information systems.

Advanced Information Systems Engineering Workshops Book Description:

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of three international workshops held in Essen, Germany, in conjunction with the 29th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE 2017, in June 2017. The 11 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 27 submissions. The workshops were the 4th International Workshop on Advances in Services Design Based on the Notion of Capability (ASDENCA); the 5th International Workshop on Cognitive Aspects of Information Systems Engineering (COGNISE); and the First International Workshop on Teaching for Smart Information Systems – Smart Information Systems for Teaching (T4SIS4T), which took place as a dedicated session under the umbrella of the COGNISE workshop.

Smart Information And Knowledge Management Book Description:

The case-based reasoning (CBR) and case-based design (CBD) have been around for some time and established themselves as one of the commonly used mechanisms of approximate reasoning in intelligent systems and de- sion support systems, in particular. In a nutshell, the CBR mechanisms o?er a powerful and general environment in which we generalize on a basis of - ready accumulated experience being represented in the form of a ?nite and relatively small collection of cases. Those cases constitute the essence of the existing domain knowledge. When encountering a new situation we invoke and eventually modify the already collected decision scenarios (cases) and arrive at the pertinent decision or a certain design alternative. Interestingly, uncertainty or granularity of resulting decision is inherently associated with the nature of the cases being used in the reasoning process and a way in which partial matching takes place between the historical ?ndings (cases) and a current evidence. ThebookbyProfessorsAvramenkoandKraslawskiisuniqueinseveral- portant ways. First, it is an impressive and in-depth treatment of the essence of the case-based reasoning strategy and case-based design dwelling upon the algorithmic facet of the paradigm. Second, the authors provided an excellent applied research framework by showing how this development can be e?- tivelyutilizedinrealwordcomplicatedenvironmentofprocessengineering a pursuit that is rarely reported in the literature in such a comprehensive m- ner as done in this book."

Information Security Theory And Practices Smart Cards Mobile And Ubiquitous Computing Systems Book Description:

With the rapid technological development of information technology, computer systems and especially embedded systems are becoming more mobile and ub- uitous. Ensuring the security of these complex and yet resource-constraineds- temshasemergedasoneofthemostpressingchallengesforresearchers.Although there are a number of information security conferences that look at particular aspects of the challenge, we decided to create the Workshop in Information - curity Theory and Practices (WISTP) to consider the problem as a whole. In additiontheworkshopaimsto bringtogetherresearchersandpractitionersin- lated disciplines and encourage interchange and practical co-operation between academia and industry. Although this is the ?rst ever WISTP event, the response from researchers wassuperbwithover68paperssubmittedforpotentialinclusionintheworkshop and proceedings. The submissions were reviewed by at least three reviewers, in most cases by four, and for program committee (PC) papers at least ?ve reviewers. This long and rigorous process was only possible thanks to the hard work of the PC members and additional reviewers, listed in the following pages. We would like to express our gratitude to the PC members, who were very supportive from the very beginning of this project. Thanks are also due to the additional expert reviewers who helped the PC to select the ?nal 20 workshop papers for publication in the proceedings. Of course we highly appreciate the e?orts of all the authors who submitted papers to WISTP 2007. We hope they will contribute again to a future edition and encourage others to do so.
